Pocket Scrapbooking

Pocket scrapbooking is all the rage these days. You'll see it in stores, on blogs, instagram, pinterest, and in my own albums.

You may be wondering "what is it?" Put simply, pocket scrapbooking is a simple style/method of scrapbooking. You have an album, a couple sets of pocket pages, a kit of pocket cards, and photos. You put the pages in the album, then your photos in the pages, and finish off with some pocket cards and journaling.

This is the 12x12 Lagoon Chevron D-Ring Album, Memory Protector Pages, and the Love Your Selfie Card Kit.

That's it! Scrapbooking. Simple. Quick. Streamlined. Easy. You can do it! Of course, if you want to embellish your cards, you can. Stickers, shimmer trim, twine, sequins, you name it.

There's multiple sizes of pocket pages and albums with Close to my Heart. The main size is 12x12 pages with a handful of page designs (featuring 3x4 and 4x6 pockets). This size is best for doing full albums for any theme, or mixing with traditional pages within an album (which is what I do).

These pages come from the Memory Protector Variety Pack.

There's also 4x4, 4x6 and 6x8 designs! These are better for smaller projects or gifts. Think birthday parties, thank you gifts for bridal party members or parents, brag books, making into recipe books, etc. They're also good for business people looking to store their samples of fabric, nail wraps (like Jamberry), or other goods. The list is endless!

One of my sister consultants out in WA uses the 4x4 Instalife album and pages to store alongside her essential oils. What a clever use for a small album, right?

This 4x6 My Creations™ Mini Book was turned into a Christmas gift for my husband featuring pictures of a Lego exhibition he was presenting at. (You can see the entire project here.) I tucked a Lego gift card in the back before wrapping it up.

These little wirebound hardcover books are not expandable in the traditional sense (you can't add pages). What you CAN do is add a variety of Flip Flaps to expand the capacity!

The newest size is 6x8. The Everyday Life album cover and pocket pages feature everything you love about pocket scrapping in a nice portable size. I've added a few pocket pages to my planner to hold treasured photos. You can also turn it into a photo album on its own! Simply purchase an album cover, 4x6 and/or 3x4 pocket pages, a Picture My Life card kit and you're ready to go to town!

Album Stats

I'm nearly finished with my albums of our trip home for 3 weeks last year. I've been plugging away at this project for several months now and it feels very good to have it almost finished!

I've used a ton of old new and current items in this project. It's mostly PictureMyLife pocket scrapbooking with a good dose of traditional 12x12 pages thrown in for good measure.

I counted up how many page protectors, page sleeves, photos, and PictureMyLife cards used and the stats are kinda redonkulously impressive. I really love these D-ring albums and how beefy they are. The rings have a nice strong bite to them and don't move once closed. I've loaded these up and they are super durable.

In the space of 2 Lagoon Chevron D-ring albums I've used no less than:

- 53 PictureMyLife memory protector page sleeves of assorted designs,
- 25 12x12 traditional page sleeves mostly top load with some side load,
- 899 photos of varying sizes (mostly 3x4 and 4x6),
- 96 3x4" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs,
- 57 4x6" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs.

Album 1:
- 26 PictureMyLife memory protector page sleeves of assorted designs,
- 13 12x12 traditional page sleeves mostly top load with some side load,
- 464 photos of varying sizes (mostly 3x4/4x6),
- 37 3x4" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs,
- 31 4x6" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs.

Album 2:
- 27 PictureMyLife memory protector page sleeves of assorted designs,
- 12 12x12 traditional page sleeves mostly top load with some side load,
- 435 photos of varying sizes (mostly 3x4/4x6),
- 59 3x4" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs,
- 26 4x6" PictureMyLife cards of varying designs.

Kinda crazy, right? ALL OF THAT fits into 2 D-ring albums with a bit of wiggle room to spare! I'm rather pleased with how much fits in each and fits securely too. Wanna see these albums up close and in action? Pop by my studio or better yet, come to the Crafty Night Out!

We have now made the first of our new My Legacy™ album offerings available to order! The new albums (all $45) you can start ordering are the Lagoon Chevron D-ring album (Z2090), the Black D-ring album (Z3034), and the new Black post-bound album (Z2094).

You will love the new and improved quality of these albums from the moment you get your hands on one. The posts in our post-bound offerings have been made easier to use, which will increase the convenience of your memory-keeping. On our D-ring albums, we have strengthened the rings to keep your memories secure for a long time. The covers are built using a sturdy, rigid material, and the exteriors are covered with coated canvas. Because canvas is a natural fiber, you may occasionally get an album with small flecks of color in the design. Such flecks are not a defect, but just part of working with natural fibers.

As for the remaining styles of albums and our organizational totes, we still expect them to be available later this month. We are happy to be able to make some albums available and will continue to keep you updated on the progress of these other items.

They're here! *happy dance*Here's the information direct from Corporate's email today:

Album Update: D-Ring Now Available, Faux Leather Inventory Status

"Our first shipment of the new My Legacy™ D-Ring albums has arrived, and we are making them immediately available to order. This first shipment contained a limited number of the 2 styles of D-ring albums (slate and cocoa), and we expect the stock to be depleted soon. Rather than placing the albums on backorder, we will be making them unavailable to order once the inventory is depleted, until we receive additional stock of the albums. Because the albums will be arriving in multiple shipments, they may be made unavailable multiple times over the coming weeks.

Also, please be aware that as we transition from the faux leather albums to the coated canvas albums, we anticipate some of the faux leather albums to become unavailable as well. Because of the vast difference in album quantities on hand, it is not feasible to provide a gauge indicating percentage of stock on hand; however, we will strive to keep you apprised of album availability.

Currently, the Dark Cranberry album (Z1343) and the Hollyhock album (Z1344) are the lowest in stock, with an outage of the Dark Cranberry likely within the week. At current sales levels, stock of the Hollyhock album is anticipated to last through mid-June. Both the Dark Chocolate (Z1342) and the Outdoor Denim (Z1346) may experience a brief backorder in May as the last of our material is manufactured into completed albums. Once all the completed albums are manufactured, we will have a large enough inventory of these two colors to easily last through the current Idea Book’s season ending 31 July, 2014."
