Layout Contest 2019

I created this layout for the 2019 Convention Layout Competition. I picked the Something Fierce paper as it had shades of colors similar to the various uniforms I've worn as a volunteer. The various cut shapes were created by our range of Thin Cuts.

Thanks to my teammate Lorraine for the use of her set of Decorative Borders Thin Cuts!

I've volunteered for: 2018 Swimming Australia National Swimming Titles, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2018 Le Festival - Brisbane French Festival, 2018 Gold Coast 600 Supercars, 2019 Brisbane International - Australian Open Series.

To make these pages, I used my basic toolkit plus these materials. Click through to purchase. Basic Toolkit: (Versamat, Trimmer, Ruler, Adhesive Runner, Glue Pen, Stamping Starter Kit), Something Fierce Paper Packet and Complements, Espresso Black Lemon Saffron Charcoal and White Daisy cardstocks, Decorative Borders Basic Circles and Block Alphabet Thin Cuts, LePen, Mint Shimmer Brush, Gold Shimmer Trim, and Top Load Memory Protectors.

Some Kinda Wonderful Blog Hop

Welcome to the Some Kinda Wonderful blog hop!
If you landed here from Shaunna Richards' Passionate About Pages, you're in the right place. If you landed here from elsewhere, welcome! Follow along our hop and be inspired by the variety of Some Kinda Wonderful.

Some Kinda Wonderful is the featured paper packet for April.
I really struggled to come up with something using the top left circle paper. It just wasn't calling to me like most papers do. Yep, even the professionals struggle with some paper ranges!

I decided to do a card with something familiar, dovetailed banners. All of a sudden, this idea jumped out at me and happened within minutes. Persistence pays off!

You'll notice that there is ZERO stamping on this card. The dream big is part of a zip strip! Easy cheesy! If you're really not a fan of stamping, try using the zip strips in your paper packets.

To make this project you'll need the following supplies. Click through the links to purchase or contact your consultant! Materials used: Some Kinda Wonderful Paper Packet, Willow Cardstock, Peacock Cardstock, White Card Value Pack, Gold Shimmer Trim, Clear Sparkles, SureCut™ Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer, Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors, Versamat™, 3L® E-Z Dots® Adhesive, 3-D Foam Tape.

I'd love it if you'd leave a comment before heading over to Leah Cameron’s Corner. Share the love and pin my project!

NEW Products

Oh wow, my box of new products arrived today!

What did I get? All these!

I saw the star and confetti embossing folders in the new AIB and I had to have them.
They arrived so I went to town making some cards for the Australasia Convention Card Swap!
I love how this star confetti pattern comes out. So pretty!

I had to add the Christmas Star stampset to my stash and I had to try out a card I saw on pinterest. I love it! I had some Jackson (retired) papers on my scrapping table so I used those first, then some scraps of Sangria.
I dug down in my box of goodies and pulled out these new PictureMyLife kits. Oh. My. Goodness. So pretty! The foiled accents, the gorgeous wash of colors, and the quirky Christmas prints!
Beautiful You
Through the Year
White Pines
The kit I was most excited about opening was this Cut Above Card Kit, Deck the Halls.
EVERYTHING you need to make 10 cards is inside. 10 cards, envelopes, string, 30 die cut ornament shapes, red enamel dots. I used this mini stamp, a 2x2 block, and black ink to finish them (plus scissors and some adhesive). Seriously, it is so easy to do!

At the bottom of my order is this lil beauty. The new mini organizer! When I heard about this lil guy in July, I knew I had to have it. I saw it in August at the Brisbane Product Premiere night and put it on my wish list straight away!
It perfectly holds our mini stamps, rolls of shimmer trim (standing or lying flat), embossing powder jars, and packets of embellishments. I AM IN LOVE! 2 dividers make 4 quadrants that keep everything nicely contained. PLUS, it stacks perfectly on top of the square organizer for easy storage! I'd even use it for a lunchbox or a super streamlined supply box for short crops. The possibilities are endless! And, the new Instalife range fits neatly inside this lil beauty.

Imagine this: an Instalife album, a packet or two of pages, a card kit, a roller stamp, a pen, and an inkpad all tucked inside this lil container. Instant Christmas present! Special pricing on this bundle is coming soon to my studio, stay tuned!

There are soooooo many new goodies within the pages of the AIB and Holiday Expressions. These are my favorites. Find your favorites and shop with me today!

Planner Love Bug

Decorated planners, filofaxes, something called a dori? All these have been popping up all over my instagram and twitter feeds lately... and I got to thinking.

What do I have in my Close to my Heart stash?
How could I use it in unexpected ways to pretty up a calendar/planner/diary?

I already use a bit of washi tape to mark big events (like birthdays and anniversaries). Usually I rip my washi tape as it's so easy to get the lengths I need. Some days though, I want nice clean edges and that's when my nonstick scissors come in handy. I'm also forever running out of pockets and places to put ticket stubs, receipts, vouchers and the like. I can add some clever pockets with these envelopes and keep them in place with my mini stapler or adhesives.

Keeping myself inspired is easy with my favorite PictureMyLife cards. There's oodles of different themes and designs to choose from, including my favorite kit: For Always.
They make fabulous spots to write down those important bits of my day I just don't want to forget. A couple quick hole punches later and the 2 sizes of cards easily slip in and out of any ringed planner or binder. A great idea for marking off sections of calendars or as a general bookmark.

I'm a sucker for sticky notes and envelopes. Lucky for me there's a cute range of My Crush™ accessories that includes both!
I've even got the option of some cute Christmas planning or memory keeping in a dedicated Christmas book, complete with embellishments that match(!). If you like the idea of those "December Daily" type projects, this is abolutely perfect.

Did you know about the great MyCrush special running this month?
I don't know about you but I can never have enough sparkle in my day. I'm going to have to start livening up my calendar pages with some shimmer trim and glitter gems. I can color the white shimmer trim with any ShinHan markers to get the exact color I want.
I can get lost in stamping my favorite images or making my own calendar headers in black ink then coloring with water color pencils or ShinHan markers to add a dreamy touch to pages with lots of white space.

What do I keep all my calendar decorative goodies in? A My Acrylix® Organizer! It's the perfect size to hold all my bits and bobs securely. All my little bits fit perfectly in craft boxes. Or for the fashionistas out there, a chevron shoulder tote holds everything and makes a great day bag.
There's so many different options for customizing and decorating all sorts of calendars with Close to my Heart. The sky is the limit!
