New Card

The new Annual Inspirations Book is here! I ordered a few new goodies and finally had a chance to play the other night. I came up with this sleek yet rugged Father's Day card!

To create this card, I cut a piece of the coated Kraft woodgrain paper to fit the size of my card base. I put a scrap piece of Colonial White on the top of my card and stuck it down in the center. A quick run through my Cuttlebug turned a scrap of Chocolate cardstock into the Hello die cut. A couple scraps dovetailed and some stamping later made this card complete. So easy! For the finishing touch, I added sequins to the front and stamped the back before signing my name.

To make this card at home, you'll need the following materials. Rustic Home Fundamentals, Chocolate and Colonial White Cardstocks, Colonial White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack, Etched Alphabet Angel Policy and Happy Father's Day My Acrylix® stamp sets, Hello & Thanks Thin Cuts, Pacifica Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, Sequins Gold Assortment.

I also used these essential items from my toolkit: SureCut™ Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer, Versamat™, 1" × 1" and 2" × 2" My Acrylix® Blocks, Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors, My Acrylix® Spritz Cleaner, My Acrylix® Stamp Scrubber, Bone Folder, 3L® E-Z Dots® Adhesive, Bonding Memories™ Glue Pen.

My Crush™ Madness

It's autumn now here in Queensland, and that means some holidays are coming up. School holidays, ANZAC Day, the ANZAC Centenary, and Mother's Day are all approaching. New for 2014

Morning everyone! I'm finalizing my workshop dates for the next couple months. But first a bit of housekeeping.

Here's the details on how I'm running things this year.

-Workshop on the Go scrapbooking kit crops are the 3rd Wednesday *night* of each month from 7-10pm here in my studio.

-Cardmaking crops are the 3rd Friday *afternoon* of each month from 1-3pm here in my studio.

-Studio events are limited to 5 people each.
That's all the space I have in my studio currently. Don't worry, I will offer a second event if more than 5 people book in.

-All bookings must be paid for (by direct deposit) in advance.
This is for planning and catering purposes. Payment and location details will be given at time of booking. Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been made. I'll confirm your booking via email.

-You must must must pre-order your workshop kits.
Full payment is required at time of pre-ordering. Order cutoff dates will be announced well in advance. It can take up to 3 weeks for supplies to arrive from the California warehouse! Once the cut off date has passed, all fully paid kits will be ordered and notifications will be emailed out to you.

-I highly recommend that you bring a tool kit to each of my events.
This consists of scissors, a 12" paper trimmer, adhesive of choice, stamping blocks and stamp cleaner. These can be added to your workshop kits and ordered in for you. (I will have these supplies available for newbies.)

-Joint group events run with other Consultants have different booking and space requirements. These will be posted as soon as I have them.

NEW for 2014. For every Scrapbooking, Cardmaking, and Cropalong you attend in my studio you'll receive a ticket into a special drawing. Winners will be drawn on our big joint crop on National Scrapbooking Day - May 17th. You must be present to win. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs!

My full event schedule will be posted in the morning. I'm up waaaay past my bedtime!

September already?!

September is here and that means today is Father's Day! I'm breaking rank and posting personal pictures and stories here today. Back to the business stuff later. ;)

Happy Father's Day to my husband Glenn. When we met in December 2005, I had no idea the ups and downs that were to come our way.

I knew we both wanted kids, at least 3 or 4. August 2008 rolled around and we were expectant parents for the first time. Sadly our baby girl never lived outside the womb. I know this stings my husband to this day, that our Julia is dead. And we have no answers.

 October 2009 came around and we found out we were expectant parents for the second time. Sadly, again, our baby son didn't live very long outside the womb. Glenn had the unforgettable duty of calling 000 when our son Evan decided to be born backwards. Glenn had the unforgettable honor of changing Evan out of his blue hospital knit hat and into his camo hat (from my dad). Glenn had the unforgettable honor of holding and bonding with Evan, albeit for a very short time. Seeing him with our son in his arms, telling Evan all about the World Cup and who had to knock out who for Australia and Ghana to advance, priceless. Seeing him at Evan's bedside, holding his little hand or stroking his cheek, priceless. Seeing him utterly broken that Evan was dying and there was nothing he could do to fix the situation, heartbreaking. Glenn and I both had the sad and high honor of being our son's pall bearers, the last loving embrace we could give him.

Glenn, you are a wonderful father to our daughter and son. I cherish seeing you honor their memories. I wish and hope and dream that you'll again be a father soon with a healthy screaming baby complete with poopy filled nappy (that needs changing). A child that grows up to call you Daddy. A child that you teach to play guitar and corrupt with your love for all things LEGO and Tolkein related. A child that asks you about big sister Julia and big brother Evan and you sit them on your knee and tell their stories. A child that asks you for repeated bedtime stories, cups of water, bedtime songs. A child that tells you the stories and lessons from Sunday School. A child that asks you about Jesus. A child that makes you lumpy pancakes and tea that's too strong for breakfast. A child that brings you joy and happiness and love and dirt and bugs and skinned knees, all things that I know you wish for. I love you darling.

I know today's french toast with bacon and iced coffee isn't the best Father's Day breakfast you could have had, but I do my best. My gift to you is dinner for two and tickets to see Arj Barker next month. And hopefully good news of two pink lines soon. It happened twice before, it can happen again.
