Operation Smile

I blogged earlier that I was hosting a fundraiser day for Operation Smile. If you hadn't heard, here's the nitty gritty details.
You're probably wondering what these card kits look like. Well, wonder no more! Here's 5 of the gorgeous different options I've prepared for this special day! There's something for everyone.
A bit of new Sea Glass Glitter Paper spices up this retired Cut Above card kit.
Some stamping and water brushing elevates this retired Charlotte paper card kit.
This one is delightfully simple, perfect for any rev head!
Recently had professional photos taken? Surprise your photographer with this lovely card. Inside is simply stamped "You've captured my heart."
Know of any little ladies who have a birthday coming up? Create this stunning princess castle card!

All of these kits have been precut and ready to for you to assemble after a few bits of stamping. Most take mere minutes to finish! If you've never ever made a card before in your life, you can do this. You need only to bring your scissors and adhesive to fully take part in the day. Surely you have scissors and adhesive lying around the house, raid your children's school supplies if need be! (I won't tell!) ;)

This is a super fun and bound to be a lil bit rambunctious day in my studio.
Space in my studio is limited, and bookings are essential. Why not get together with your girlfriends and enjoy a crafty day in?

Contact me today to book your spot. First in is best dressed!

Scrapbooking Basics

A lot of my workshops are for crafters that have a bit of card or page making experience already. For my lovelies who aren't experienced in scrapbooking, I've got you covered.

I'm starting a new 4 part beginner scrapbooking course in September! This is a super easy basic crash course in scrapbooking featuring the four Fundamentals paper collections. Simple easy paper cutting for super easy beautiful scrapbook pages. No stamping, no complicated steps, just beautiful papers and embellishments combined to make stunning pages.

Come along to these beginner's scrapbooking workshops and you'll leave with beautiful pages ready for photos, extra products to customize your pages as you like, plus all the confidence needed to jump into any of my other workshops! You'll learn about the range of papers and cardstocks I work with, the different types of embellishments, and what a "sketch" is. Plus you'll learn how to maximize your papers and how to cut them according to CTMH directions. You'll also get to create from the range of different pattern books I use. This truly is a crash course in scrapbooking from start to finish!

Keep reading to see the four different workshops. Scrapbooking Basics, Adventure, Enchantment, and Whimsy. Four beautiful paper suites, four beautiful workshops. In order to help you find your feet with scrapbooking, space at my studio table for these workshops is limited to just 3 per workshop. That's right, only 3 people per workshop. You get hands on help in a small comfortable setting. First in is best dressed!

To get the most from these workshops, you'll need to bring your own basic scrapbooking toolkit: 12" paper trimmer, ruler, grid mat, and adhesives (tape runner and glue dots). These toolkit items are essential for all my workshops. If you don't have them, place an order on my website for them, OR let me know which you need and I'll add them to your workshop booking. They'll be waiting for you on the day.

I can't wait for these workshops to start. I love scrapbooking and I am so excited to share these pages with you!

Basics - Bookings close 7pm September 2.
Adventure - Bookings close 7pm September 19.
Enchantment - Bookings close 7pm October 25.

My Anchor

I am loving my new My Anchor stampset and My Anchor Thin Cuts! They are so cute and easy to use that I've been on a roll creating goodies lately.

I saw this card a while back and initially thought I'd recreate it using Springtime Wishes.
{source}
Then.... I thought about using My Anchor instead. I'm always being asked for boyish designs. A few minutes later, this is what I've come up with!

A few stamps, some die cutting, and easy assembly. You can't get much easier than this! You could change this up and use hearts instead of anchors, or use flowers and change the sentiment. Happy crafting!

Products used: White Card Value Pack, White Daisy Exclusive Cardstock, Glacier Flaxen Slate Sapphire Ruby Exclusive Inks, Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors, Spritz, Scrubber, My Anchor stampset, My Anchor Thin Cuts, My Acrylix® Blocks, Adhesive, Foam Tape.

Christmas Card Buffet

For those that missed it, you missed an incredibly fun and relaxing card workshop yesterday!

Everything was set out and ready to go. All the card designs were precut and in baskets.
The stamps needed were on the blocks in the baskets.
Inks, star punches, Cuttlebug and embossing folders were all stacked up just waiting to be used.

I even made a pretty lil banner to decorate the room and put on our Christmas lights. It truly was a relaxing enjoyable crafting environment! All the cards are super easy to replicate. All you have to do is take all the pieces from a bag, stamp, cut, and emboss a few bits, then assemble following the sample given. 10 cards in 4 hours (along with lunch, afternoon tea, and shopping time) is easily doable.

About halfway through the session, we stopped for lunch. I brought out this afternoon tea platter of spiced apple cake, rice crackers with crinkle cut cheese and hummus, and vanilla yogurt cups with honeyed blueberries. We nibbled as we went and it was soooooo good. I provided cups of coffee or tea as we needed them.

If you've never stamped before, don't worry. I show you just how to dive in and get inky! It's super easy with the clear My Acrylix blocks and stampsets.
My lovely customer Rose came over and we had a very enjoyable time. We discussed anything and everything while she made her 10 cards. Here she is working on a design I created.

These are the designs I have currently to choose from. Some are Creating with Kara Davies originals, the rest are my versions of pinterest ideas, and my version of ideas from the vast range of Close to my Heart how to books.

We had so much fun yesterday. And on Monday I get to do it all over again for my lovely customer Michelle! That's right, my Card Buffets aren't just here in my studio. I can come to you!

Card Buffet 101

Wow, that was so much fun!

A big thank you to Kim, and Michelle and her bubby for coming today. I loved showing you how to make these cards!

So, if you've been following me for any length of time, you'll have seen me post and talk about my upcoming Card Buffets. You're probably wondering what exactly a card buffet is! A card buffet is a cardmaking party where you choose the cards you want to make.

These are the 8 different designs I had on the buffet today. All rather simple to make and visually stunning. Even my friend Michelle, my "I'm not really crafty" friend, made 5 cards today! All the cards in the buffet are perfect for beginners to well seasoned crafters.

When you arrive in my studio, you're greeted by me and a hot cuppa. At your place is a stamp mat, a little welcome pack, a copy of my current studio workshop schedule, a tray, and a choccie. (There's always choccies here in my studio. ALWAYS.) It's a crime to craft without chocolate in my book!

Once you're seated and have had a chance to view the buffet, you take your tray and fill it with your choice from the various precut kits. Choose up to 5 cards, and settle in for 2 hours of creative fun. That's right, everything you need to create some beautiful handmade cards is PRECUT!

As you can see here, I've made this cute little shooting star congratulations card. In the bag I've got everything needed to recreate it. By everything, I mean everything!

So what's in the bag? A card, an envelope, and all the 6 pieces of paper and cardstock, precut for your convenience. All that's left is for you to ink up some stamps, stamp the shooting star and congratulations, and assemble! So easy and fun right?

The best part of the buffet, aside from making gorgeous cards, is me! You get to pick my brain, learn new techniques, and get hands on assistance with every step of the cardmaking process.
I'm here for you! Once you've picked your cards from the buffet, it's as easy as opening the bag, stamping a few pieces, and sticking the pieces on the card front. After that, stamp the back of the card with "original artwork by" and sign your work. It really is simple to make a beautiful card with my Card Buffet. If you've never made a card before, and you've always wanted to try, come to my next Buffet!

To make it even easier, I've sorted all the stamps and inks I've used into one spot. For newbies, I even mount the stamps onto the blocks for you. You don't have to copy the card sample exactly as shown. Love the look but a different shade of blue suits your fancy? Simply ask which shades of blue I have. Like a certain card but the stamped image isn't your taste? Ask which other stamps I have that would fit that design! The card designs are so flexible that you can completely change up the elements and have a unique result.

Michelle and Kim both tucked straight in to their chosen designs while baby Charlie entertained us all with his gurgles and babbles from his playmat. About an hour in to our crafty fun, I brought out some yummy nibblies. Today's menu was rice crackers, sliced tasty cheese, sliced chicken and french onion dip. We took a few minutes to nibble and enjoy a cuppa before diving back in to the fun.

These are the three cards Kim made. I didn't get a quick snap of Michelle's 5 cards. (Oops!) I'm happy to say that the lemony card here is now sold out! In each basket at the start of each buffet is a limited number of cards (two to six), and once the design is gone, it's gone. I replenish the buffet with a new design once something disappears.

The carnage left behind after we got all crafty and inky. A good time was had by all! I cannot wait until my next buffet on August 21st.

So how much does all this fun cost? $15. That includes:
  • your place at my studio table,
  • all the hands on help and assistance you need,
  • up to 5 unique bespoke cards,
  • and nibblies.
All this for $15, and you leave with at least 1 card and up to 5! 5 handmade cards for $15, plus nibblies and assistance? At an average of $3/card, that's incredible value. When you think about what you'd pay for 5 mass produced cards out in the shops, the most basic cards are easily $4-5 or more right? For $15, come on over for a fun crafternoon with new friends and leave with a pile of cards that you can say with pride "I made this"!

My next Card Buffet is on August 21st. I cannot wait to share a new mix of cards with you!
Spaces are limited to 5 per buffet. First in best dressed! Contact me today to book your spot for a fun afternoon getting crafty! Of course, I love meeting new people and sharing the fun with them too. Bring along your sister, your mum, your auntie, your best friend, your neighbor, anyone that would love to try an afternoon of crafting.

Can't wait til August 21st to buffet? Contact me for your very own private session, the cost is the same! Today's buffet was a private session.
My calendar is filling up quickly so be sure to secure your date ASAP.

Thanks for reading, it's been so much fun setting up and running this Buffet today. I can't wait to get ready for my next one!
