Tip Thursday - Clear Jars

Tip Thursday! I bought some pretty embossing powders while at Ipswich Papercraft Show. I can hear you saying "But you have embossing powders in your shop! Why did you buy elsewhere?!?"

1) I don't have access to these colors in my shop.
2) I saw them on sale and I helped out a fellow exhibitor with a sale.
3) They were $8.50 each or 2/$15.
4) I didn't have to pay for shipping!

Normally, when I use embossing powders, it's a bit of a struggle to get the lids off or to pour back into such a small container. I decided to decant my new embossing powders into our Clear Jars instead. They are wider and shallower, and I find them easier to hold without potentially busting the lids. Et voila, I can now see my powders better and I have more control over pouring them.

These look so appetizing and easier to craft with now.

A lot of people use the jars for storing loose gems, sequins, shaker bits, ribbons, brads, antistatic pouches, wooden buttons, acrylic shapes, snacks, and even packets of diamond dots!

I put all of my powders, my heat tool, and my antistatic pouch into a basket in my trolley. I have a lid for my trolley too.

Et voila! Easy to see, easy to grab, easy to put away when finished.

What's different about these pens for embossing?
Instead of using Versamark ink and your favorite stampset and embossing powder, use these pens to create a design! Sprinkle on your embossing powder, tap off excess, and melt with your heat gun. Imagine creating stunning personalized placecards for weddings or Christmas dinners!

My favorite part about it?
I have three different brush tips included in the one set! I've looked at local craft stores and there is only 1 brush tip I could find (for $12). No thank you, I'll get all 3 for $16!

What else is needed to use these pens?
Anti-Static Pouch, Embossing Powders, and a heat tool. I got mine from another supplier as the CTMH heat tool is not available outside of North America.

Sparkly Update

I've just gotten my hands on all the new goodies needed to make up my sample for this workshop. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!

I love Christmas time. My birthday is 2 days before hand so it always feels like everything is getting pretty and special and decorated all month just for me. ;)

New favorites

Hello everyone!

I'm back and slowly settling into Queensland time. Lots of caffeine, forcing to wake up and stay up, and doing the normal thing is the mantra around here lately. Part of my getting back to my "normal" schedule was attending and working on my various projects during the August Brissie Consultant Funday on Monday!

I brought my brand new Cuttlebug and experimented with all of our new Embossing Folders. I'm in lurve! Thanks to Margaret M. and Caroline W. for letting me use their folders for these samples.

I decided to do cards at funday as I didn't have any photos from our trip ready just yet. I have extra retired B&T papers on hand so I've used them. Once my next order arrives I have a bunch of new ideas to make up!

I made this for our 10 card swap.

 Even the envelope flap got some decorating. Everyone loves happy mail. :)

I made this card next, using "dry" embossing, also for a swap. The left card is stamped inside, the right is blank.

Aren't these gorgeous? The various embossing folders add so much punch and flair to an otherwise simple card design. And at only $12 each, I'm hooked!

I couldn't leave funday without having a small piece of each folder pattern. So, I made a sampler! Now I've got an easy to use reference when I can't decide between patterns.

And here I am, proud as punch with my first piece of dry embossing. :D

I also got to try my hand at "wet" embossing with our new Clear Embossing Powder. It was so cool! Cannot wait to try wet embossing with my next batch of cards!

A Budding Friendship stampset

I used Versamark clear ink and Ranger™ Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder to emboss this flower. You can see the different effects that the wet and dry embossing techniqes has on these bits of chocolate cardstock. So cool!

I'll be holding embossing workshops here in studio over the next couple weeks. I'll be doing both wet and dry methods and I have some gorgeous ideas for Christmas crafts that you're going to drool over! Which are you most excited to see/learn? Wet or dry embossing?
